Taking Our Learning into the Community – Calgary Corn Maze

We are so grateful to Calgary Corn Maze for playing host to us for our first field trip of the year. It was the perfect setting to meet up and connect with our families, and, not to mention, the weather couldn’t have been any better!

The Calgary Corn Maze is literally a-maze-ing – with plenty of activities to enjoy with your children, there is something to meet every interest, while fostering a few new interests along the way.

A unique opportunity, it was all hands on deck – with teachers, therapists and aides all on-site, families were able to see first-hand the relationships their children have started to develop with their team.

If you happened to be on-site with us that day, we would have been easily spotted. Just scan the crowd for the loudest and silliest adults around, 9 times out of 10 it was a Pacekids staff member. We had just as much fun as the children – imitating animal sounds, working on our balance on those giant bouncy pillows, drawing attention to the sights, sounds, and smells of the day. We may even have left the corn maze with a pumpkin or two in tow, not ready to end the experience – taking it back into the classroom with us.

In all that fun I truly believe we accomplished our goal – to have our families leave the Corn Maze with a few more tools in their toolbox, with answered questions and a little extra confidence, ready to facilitate their child’s participation out in the community and work on those developmental goals in a new setting!
