Youth Advocating for Youth – $5,000 Grant for Pacekids Programs

Grade 9 students Deepali, Jordan, Andrijana and Clarice from the Samuel W. Shaw School were thrilled when their hard work and passion in their Youth Philanthropy Initiative presentation ended up winning a $5,000 grant for Pacekids Programs, their charity of choice. The Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) allows students the opportunity to research and discover local charities, while promoting community awareness. After visiting the charity, the students create presentations in hopes of winning $5,000 for their charity.

Clarice contacted Pacekids Programs as this was an organization that strikes home for her. Clarice has a cousin with Autism, and she shared her story with us and explained her connection to the special need’s community. Hearing Clarice talking about her cousin thriving despite his disability was truly inspirational!

The group had the opportunity to visit our South facility in early February. Their enthusiasm about Pacekids was so heart-warming. The group put in a tremendous amount of work into this project, from researching impacting stories about the children at Pacekids and even creating their own sensory board!

The students at Samuel W. Shaw School saw the culmination of over a month of dedicated work come together with presentations on Thursday, March 7th. Pacekids is so honored to be the recipient charity this year. Thank you to the amazing group of Grade 9 students for representing Pacekids so well! Thanks to these dedicated individuals, Pacekids will be able to serve even more children & families and see them thrive!
