Pacekids Programs has been selected as the recipient charity of the 2019 Willow Park Golf Charity Classic!
We had the opportunity to hear from Kyle Edwards: a Pacekids Parent, Pacekids Board Member & Willow Park Charity Golf Classic Tournament Attendee.
Alexander, Kyle’s son attends afternoon pre-school at the Pacekids South Location. Alexander started at the beginning of the school year (September) and their experience has been amazing so far. Alex was diagnosed with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) which is on the Autism Spectrum. Prior to attending Pacekids Alex was at a regular pre-school where he really struggled. He never wanted to attend school and was unsocial in class, not really interacting with any of the other children. When he did interact he struggled to communicate properly, other kids didn’t know how to react which always resulted in frustration/ sadness in his inability to make friends/ play. The support at Pacekids has been amazing for Alex. He is learning to socialize and has made friends at school. He recently attended two birthday parties for classmates which he never would have done a year ago.
“We are extremely lucky to have Alex at Pacekids. I can’t imagine where we would be without the help Pacekids has provided us. It is an amazing organization and I want to ensure that going forward Pacekids is in a strong position to be able to provide its services to the 500+ families it currently helps. I am extremely grateful to the WP Committee for choosing Pacekids as this year’s recipient charity. Each of the recipient charities since I have played in the Classic have been incredible so for Pacekids to get an opportunity this year is really exciting. Pacekids is an extremely important organization to many kids/ families with special needs that rely on the services they provide. I personally have not been involved in a more worthy organization so thank you for your support.” says Edwards.
Proceeds from the Willow Park Charity Golf Classic will leave a legacy and have a lifelong impact on the children and families of Pacekids and will ensure children like Alex have the opportunity to thrive.
