Summertime can be an exciting season for kids, but it isn’t always easy to find new places to explore, especially when you’re looking for spaces that welcome children of all abilities. Below are five destinations you and your family can visit for some summer fun, including a few places our Pacekids kids have enjoyed during field trips.
1. Hide N Seek Indoor Playground
This large indoor playground, located in northeast Calgary, offers plenty of opportunities to crawl, slide, climb, and explore. It also features a small cafe where families can rest and refuel, along with a selection of arcade games. It was a huge hit with our Pacekids kids during one of our field trips. If your children need to burn off some energy, this is definitely a destination to add to your summer itinerary.

2. We Rock the Spectrum
A hidden gem in northeast Calgary, We Rock the Spectrum was the location of one of our recent field trips, and it was another big hit. It offers a highly inclusive play environment featuring a calming room, a zip slider, climbing equipment, various swings, and more. This is a fantastic facility filled with sensory-friendly play for children to enjoy.

3. TELUS Spark Science Centre
TELUS Spark is a classic Calgary destination located next to the Calgary Zoo. With hands-on exhibits, interactive activities, and plenty of opportunities to experiment and explore, it is a wonderful place for children and adults to discover science together. Our Pacekids kids also visited TELUS Spark on a field trip, where they enjoyed learning, exploring, and discovering all the different things to see and do alongside their friends and teachers.

4. Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo
Take a walk on the wild side at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. This classic family destination features favourites such as Penguin Plunge and Destination Africa, and families can travel back in time to visit the dinosaurs in Prehistoric Park. With so many animals, playgrounds, and exhibits to explore, the zoo offers plenty of opportunities for children and their families to learn, play, and enjoy an outdoor summer adventure together.

5. Vivo
Located in northwest Calgary, Vivo is a community facility that offers a wide variety of activities, including swimming lessons, summer camps, an indoor park, an inclusive outdoor playground, access to an on site Calgary Public Library, and more. Vivo also offers designated Sensory Time, during which selected areas operate at reduced capacity, lighting is softened where possible, and music is lowered or turned off to create a more comfortable environment.
Our team has visited Vivo many times and always appreciates the variety of activities available for both adults and children. We definitely recommend adding it to your family’s summer list.
