FREE Online Triple P Seminars for Calgary Families: Your Fall 2026 Guide

This fall, Pacekids is offering a free four-part Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) seminar series designed to give families of children with disabilities practical, realistic tools for navigating everyday challenges with more confidence.

Below is everything you need to know about each session, including dates and topics.

What are Triple P Seminars?

Triple P, short for the Positive Parenting Program, is an evidence-based approach that helps families build stronger routines, encourage positive behaviour, and support their child’s development. Pacekids is hosting four free online seminars between August and October 2026, led by Pacekids’ Triple P staff and open to FSCD families as well as other families looking for support, whether or not they are FSCD eligible.

Space is limited, so families are encouraged to register early for each session they plan to attend.

Triple P Seminar Series

Triple P seminar series is a 3 part session designed to help parents and caregivers build confidence one step at a time.

Do you need to attend all sessions? No, but families are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible to build a fuller set of tools for supporting their child’s development.

Session 1: Positive Parenting for Children with a Disability

Date: August 18, 2026 | Time: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., plus Q&A | Presenter: Trish Kinton

Feeling the end-of-summer burnout is common, and the transition back to school routines can bring its own set of challenges. This session kicks off the series with practical strategies to help families finish the summer strong and ease into the school year.

You will learn how to:

  • Rebuild structure and routines
  • Create a calm, positive home environment during busy transitions
  • Manage challenging behaviour with simple, effective strategies
  • Set realistic expectations while everyone adjusts
  • Take care of your own wellbeing

This session is grounded in the core principles of positive parenting and is designed to help families feel more confident supporting their child through change, whether that is bedtime routines, morning stress, or back-to-school emotions.

Session 2: Helping Your Child Reach Their Potential

Date: September 22, 2026 | Time: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., plus Q&A | Presenter: Trish Kinton

This session focuses on how children learn and how families can support development step by step in everyday situations.

You will learn how to:

  • Choose skills that are meaningful for your child to learn
  • Break skills into small, manageable steps
  • Use encouragement and rewards to support progress
  • Find the right time and place for teaching
  • Apply simple, effective strategies to help your child succeed
  • Track and review progress over time

Families will come away with practical tools that support a child’s growth, independence, and confidence in a way that feels achievable and positive.

Session 3: Changing Problem Behaviour into Positive Behaviour

Date: September 29, 2026 | Time: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., plus Q&A | Presenter: Trish Kinton

This session is designed to help families better understand and respond to a child’s challenging behaviour in a calm, constructive, and effective way. Many families are unsure how to handle behaviour in ways that reduce the issue in the moment and also help their child learn what to do instead. This seminar provides clear, practical guidance to do just that.

You will learn how to:

  • Identify and track specific behaviours to better understand patterns
  • Recognize the reasons behind why behaviours are happening
  • Adjust situations and triggers that may lead to challenges
  • Teach and encourage positive alternative behaviours
  • Reduce unintentional reinforcement of problem behaviours
  • Put together and follow a simple, practical behaviour support plan

This session focuses on helping families feel more confident, prepared, and supported when responding to everyday challenges, with tools that are realistic to use at home and support long-term positive change.

Fear-Less Triple P

Date: October 6, 2026 | Time: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., plus Q&A | Presenter: Zara Robinson

Fear-Less Triple P is an evidence-based program that helps families understand and respond to a child’s anxiety in positive, practical ways. This live webinar walks through simple strategies that build resilience, reduce anxiety, and strengthen a child’s coping skills, while also helping families feel more confident along the way.
