“Zara has stepped into her new role with such confidence and ease, and the initiative and innovation she’s shown with her Triple P program has been truly impressive. Her work continues to make a meaningful impact, and I’m grateful to have her on the team.
Thank you again, Zara, for all the hard work and heart you bring to our team. I genuinely enjoy working with you!”
— Alexis Fisch, Community and In-Home Programs Manager
Meet Zara Robinson, our Intake and Triple P Community Coordinator!
1. What is your role at Pacekids, and how long have you been here?
“I’ve been with Pacekids for 5 years! I started as a Triple P Practitioner, and now am the Community Coordinator, Intake & Triple P. I manage our Community and In-Home Program waitlist, and intake new families. I assist with our outreach efforts to the community, promoting our programs during these events. In a sense, I often am the first face that families meet!
I also coordinate our Triple P programs, supporting in meeting our target hours for Triple P alongside my co-practitioner Trish Kinton. We work together to continue providing this evidence-based Positive Parenting Program to families who needs help teaching new skills, managing challenging behaviours, helping anxious children face their fears, or in coping with the stressors of parenting.”
2. What drew you to working with children with diverse needs?
“I stumbled upon a job working with children with diverse needs, and having realized I have the natural aptitude for the job, I pursued formal education in the disabilities field. My experiences continue to draw me to this work, as my appreciation grew for the hard work that parents and guardians put in raising and supporting their family members with diverse needs. These experiences reinforce my belief in the necessity of the “village” in raising children. I’m a strong believer that early intervention and community supports are the most meaningful and most cost-effective approach to public health.“
3. What is a moment at Pacekids that has stuck with you?
“I always love to hear how parents talk about their kiddos when I first meet them. Despite challenging parenting situations, they tend to glow in adoration and pride of their kiddos and teens.”
4. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
“I love seeing parents enjoy using positive strategies with their kids. I love being able to encourage them by describing the great work they are doing, and to help them persist and stay consistent in their goals. Their strength and resilience really are inspiring.”
5. What is something your colleagues might not know about you?
“I love music. I play guitar and recently am starting to re-learn the piano. I also like to dance to funky beats, but only when no one is watching!“
