The People Behind Pace: Nicola Green

“Nicola has been selected for this month’s staff spotlight because she is a highly valued member of our Pacekids Sundance team. She is a reflective and responsive educator who brings a calm, gentle, and caring approach to her work with children. Nicola consistently creates a supportive learning environment where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to grow.

In addition to her work with children, Nicola demonstrates proactive leadership by guiding her team of CTAs to collaborate effectively and provide the best possible support for our students. She leads by example, fostering teamwork, open communication, and a shared commitment to student success.
Nicola is also known for her cheerful and optimistic attitude. She is always willing to lend a hand, support her colleagues, and contribute wherever needed. Her positivity, dedication, and genuine care for others make a meaningful impact on our team every day.

We are incredibly grateful for all that Nicola does and are proud to have her as part of the Pacekids Sundance team! Her commitment to children, families, and colleagues truly embodies the values of Pacekids.“

Meet Nicola Green, one of Pacekids’ Preschool Teachers at Sundance!

1. What is your role at Pacekids, and how long have you been here?

“I am a Preschool Teacher at the Sundance location and have worked at Pacekids for five years.“

2. What drew you to working with children with diverse needs?

“My interest in working with children with diverse needs grew from my own experience as a parent. My eldest son attended this same facility for three years, and during that time, I was incredibly grateful for the care, compassion, and support he received from the wonderful staff. The relationships built, and the positive experiences made this place especially meaningful to me. It is truly an honor to now be part of this team and give back to other families by providing the same care, encouragement, and support that meant so much to my own family.“

3. What is a moment at Pacekids that has stuck with you?

“There are so many moments that have stuck with me over the years! It’s hard to choose just one. From building trusting relationships and finding new ways to support each child, to watching children reach their goals, develop new skills, and communicate, there is so much to celebrate. Sometimes, it’s the big milestones, and other times, it’s the little things that mean the most, like a shared joy, a bright smile, seeing a child connect with others, or watching them find comfort and co-regulate with a trusted adult, all of these moments are special.“

4. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

“For me, the most rewarding part is getting to know each child and supporting them in ways that are meaningful to them. Seeing their brilliant smiles, sharing laughter, and watching them build connections with the people around them are some of the best parts of my day. I’m also grateful to work alongside such a caring and dedicated team, it truly is a privilege to be part of each child’s journey.”

5. What is something your colleagues might not know about you?

“I’ve been going to motocross meetings since I was in a pram, so my love of dirt bikes comes with some brilliant family memories! I also enjoy horse riding, have two dogs, three fish tanks, and a Pacman frog. I don’t have a gym membership as my two boys keep me moving! I immigrated to Canada from England in 2010.“

Every Child Matters: Resources and Reflections for Families

In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Pacekids will be closed on September 30. This day provides an opportunity to honour First Nations, Inuit, and Métis survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities, while encouraging learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations about reconciliation. Families are invited to explore age-appropriate resources, books, videos, and community events together, and to wear orange in support of Orange Shirt Day and the message that Every Child Matters. We recognize that this topic can be emotional and encourage families to engage with the content at a pace that feels right for their child and family.
