“Our journey with Pacekids started in the fall of 2019 when we got an approval from FSCD to start Specialized Services process for our daughter, G, who was 3 years old at that time. G was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and was attending a daycare full time. It was the first year when FSCD relaxed their processes and allowed the therapy team to attend both daycare/preschool setting as well as continue with the home visits. This was ideal for us, since both my husband and I had full-time jobs and could not possibly had the therapy at home all the time.

After going through multiple phones and in-person interviews we chose Pacekids. The plan was for G to work with Specialized Services for a year and then take advantage of the PUF funding and go to preschool. Pacekids stood out for us right away. They provided a variety of support for families with children with disabilities that included Specialized Services and preschool, just what we wanted. The Specialized Services team consisted of an Aide, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Behavioral Specialist, Physiotherapist and a Coordinator. When we met everyone for the initial meeting, we left feeling very pleased and relieved. We were happy to know that G was going to work with an Exceptional Team of professionals that were great at their jobs but were also amazing human beings. From day one they made sure we were comfortable and kept us updated with everything that was happening with G. The process of going to daycare was also new for Pacekids team but they handled it smoothly and effortlessly. After COVID started, the daycare closed, and we continued the sessions via Zoom. We had weekly appointments with the Team, and they were able to watch G via tablet or phone. The Team would drop off the materials when needed and sent us lots of useful and functional information via emails. Our Aide was also emailing us weekly projects that were entertaining and easy to follow. The Team was always available if we had any questions and provided us with lots of support even though we could not meet in person.

G has now started a preschool with Pacekids, and she is loving it so far. We are still having Zoom meetings with our Specialized Services Team and they are doing a ‘Common Approach’ with the Preschool. Since they all know each other, there is no delay in sharing the information between two Teams and the process is smooth and most importantly beneficial for G.

Our family recommends Pacekids for all the parents out there that just do not know where to start and are overwhelmed with the choices that are out there. It is still a work in progress for us, but we believe that with the help of Pacekids we will continue making small victories and celebrate them together.

They say, “it takes a village to raise a child” and we cannot be happier with the village that we have.

Thank you, Pacekids!”
