On Tuesday, October 4th, over 30 celebrity guests and 200 poker players came together at Cowboys Dance Hall in hopes of ‘Knocking out a Cowboy’ at Mark Sutherland’s annual charity poker tournament. This was the fifth year for the event and the fundraising total reached half a million dollars raised for Pacekids Programs and other deserving non-profit organizations!
Celebrity hosts for the charity poker tournament included professional chuckwagon driver, Mark Sutherland; Calgary Stampeders, Charleston Hughes and Rene Parades; 2016 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion, Kirk Sutherland; the one and only Terry Grant, AKA Man Tracker and many more from the chuckwagon world and Calgary area.
At the end of the evening tournament host, Mark Sutherland, said “I am proud of this event and grateful for the support we continue to get from our guests. To raise this much money during a very difficult economic time in Alberta is a great display of our true giving spirit. A special thank you to our wonderful celebrity hosts who help make this event a truly unique experience and to our generous sponsors for your continued support. Half a million dollars raised in five years is a tremendous accomplishment and I want to thank everyone involved. It is such an honour to host this event each year. I look forward to the 2017 charity poker tournament”.
We are so grateful for the continued support from Mark and all of the event sponsors, including ATB Financial, Cowboys Dance Hall, Cowboys Casino, BD&P LLP, ATCO Power, Omega 2000 Cribbing, Nordic Energy, M&R Safety and more!
