Golf for Pacekids is a Hole in One!

On Thursday, September 24, 2020 participants teed off at Cottonwood Golf & Country Club to participate in the first annual Golf for Pacekids presented by BD&P. Thanks to the generous support of Cottonwood and BD&P, Pacekids was able to safely host 63 participants on a beautiful Fall morning to raise critical funding for Pacekids’ Early Childhood Services program.  Pacekids provides centre-based preschool and kindergarten programs for children aged 2.8 years to 6 years that can be accessed through PUF or mild/moderate funding. Home-Based Early Childhood Services (ECS) Program

Program Overview of Home-Based ECS Program Pacekids’ Home-Based ECS Program has been created to meet the needs of Calgarian families who have a child who has a severe delay/diagnosis as well as medical conditions or considerations that may prevent them from attending a centre-based program. Aimed at offering a valuable, early intervention educational experience for children who are unable to attend a centre-based program, this home- based program will be led by a Certified Teacher, with comprehensive support from Pacekids’ clinical ECS team and Classroom Therapy Aides (CTA).   School-year calendar and programming hours align with Pacekids’ centre-based ECS program;

Triple P Seminars via Zoom – New July & August Dates

To help our community keep learning during the current COVID-19 pandemic, Pacekids is excited and proud to offer two complimentary Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) seminars online.  The seminars will be offered via ZOOM and will be password protected and secure.  You get the same great service and information, but from the comfort of your home! The two Triple P sessions we are offering will provide real world information and may be of value to parents, or any individual working with children with disabilities under the age of 12.  People are encouraged to attend either seminar that is of interest

Thriving Eight-Year-Old Alumni Gives Back to Pacekids

“Pacekids helped me to become who I am.” – Tyler, Pacekids Alumni Pacekids Programs relies heavily on the support of generous donors and community partners to provide critical early intervention to children with special needs in Calgary. Tyler, a Pacekids’ alumni, and his family know firsthand what a difference Pacekids can make. Tyler graduated from Pacekids two years ago – and today, Tyler is thriving. This Spring, when Tyler’s mom explained that Pacekids was seeking donations to provide support to other children, he wanted to help! Virtual Music Therapy is a Highlight to Children Learning from Home

Thanks to the support of the Calgary Children’s Foundation, Pacekids Programs has been providing Music Therapy sessions lead by JB Music Therapy (JBMT) to over 200 children in their Early Childhood Services (ECS) and Kindergarten programs since September. Research has shown that music can be an engaging and attractive stimulus for everyone regardless of a person’s age or ability. Studies have shown that Preschool children in an early intervention music program show high on-task behavior during sessions and a high success rate in language development, social skills, cognitive concepts, motor skills, and music knowledge.
